Hi ! I am 38 yrs. old and met my prince late in life...Just got married for the first time on Oct. 25 and we have been trying to conceive. My Dr. did blood tests to check the levels of my estrogen, progesterone and thyroid... Estrogen and thyroid were normal, but my progesterone was low...(The nurse called to say that the Dr. felt I was not ovulating because of the low progest.) I was put on Clomid 50 mg. This week I went in on day 26 of my cycle to check my progesterone level again...Disappointing..it was only 5.9..(The Dr. would like to see it at 13) The Dr. upped my clomid dosage to 100mg. I am praying that this will work because of my age factor--time is most definitely of the essence. Anyone else out there in the same boat? And why doesn''t the Dr. prescribe progesterone?!? |

Thank you for responding! Congratulations on ovulating!! I am encouraged by your results...and hoping I''ll have the same kind of success! I am on day 3 of 100mg of clomid, so keep your fingers crossed for me...I''m praying this will be the month it works and I ovulate... I am also going to check with my Dr. to see about progynova... Sometimes I feel down about my situation, and feel like I''m the only one that this is happening to... I''ve got friends and family all around me with young babies..In fact I''m hosting a baby shower soon for a friend who is due in June and while I am very happy and excited for her (she tried for 2 years!), I''m also wishing that my turn for motherhood will come soon. It helps a lot to communicate with someone in a similar situation. Thanks Again! Keep in touch and best of luck this month...I hope to hear good news from you soon! Kathryn |

i have been trying to get pregnant for nearly a year. I have polycystic ovaries and irregular periods. A friend suggested that i had my progesterone level checked. when i phoned for the results, the receptionist told me that i was fine and i didn''t ask what my result levels were. Thinking i was fine, i saw my friend a few months later and she suggested that i contact my GP to find out what my levels were, so i did. I had a real dissapointment to discover my results were only 3.3. Why did my GP tell me i was fine? i am so angry and have made another appointment to see my GP (not the same one) to talk about this. |

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your experience with others like me. I am going through basically the same situation, although I''m sure a little different. I am 27 years old, and my husband and I have been ttc for about 6 years. I only consulted fertility help about a year ago, because I was hoping that I could get pregnant on my own. Well, when I did finally go to a fertility specialist, I found out that I had one blocked fallopian tube, and I was''nt ovulating normally. I had to have surgery, and he removed my blocked fallopian tube, stating that it would have been more of a problem for me to get pregnant if I would have kept it (because it was fluid -filled), and considering the fact that my other tube is completely healthy, and I dont have endemetriosis or any scar tissue or anything, there should''nt be any other hinderance for me to get pregnant. After the surgery to remove my tube and give me a D&C, he started me on Clomid 50mg, and I took it 4 cycles, and never became pregnant. Well, on the last cycle that I took it, I went to the doctor and had my progesterone checked, and found out that it was very low, which means that I did''nt ovulate with the 50mg Clomid. I will begin 100mg Clomid on my next cycle, and I hope and pray that I get pregnant. It is very hard to deal with a situation like this when you see other people with their little darlings, and you wish so bad for one of your own. Dont give up hope though, because God can perform miracles in a split second...I''ll let everyone know how the Clomid 100mg works this time around...the best of luck to everyone that is ttc! Thanks! :)
