![]() Topic: Should I do it?Posted: 2010-May-03 at 03:01 |

Hi,
I am a single father of three children. About 4 years ago I divorced their mother. At that time there was a court case and the children placed with me. However, their mother told the court that I was not the biological father of the two younger children (now 8 and 10). The two suggested fathers were contacted by the court and they denied that they could be the children's father and declined to undergo paternity tests. The court suggested I should take a paternity test but, partly because of the proposed fathers position, and partly because I knew the only other option was placement in care if they weren't placed with me, I also refused to undergo a paternity test. At that time I decided to discuss the issue with the children when the eldest reached 10. That time has now arrived and I don't know whether I should - truth be told I am terrified of the possible consequences both of telling them now and not telling them and them finding out in the future from either my ex-wife or other people in the know. Does anyone on here have any thoughts. |
